A MAN ARRESTED AFTER BEING LINKED TO THE BLAZE SET ON MRS. OKELLO'S (MOTHER TO RONGO MP. DALMAS OTIENO) HOUSE

A man who is suspected to have been behind burning  down of a house
belonging to the mother-in-law of Rongo MP.Dalmas Otieno was on Friday arrested in Homa Bay County.
Mr Peter Odoyo Ogure, a 46-year-old a bicycle repairman, was arrested on suspicion of having set ablaze Mrs Elizabeth Okello's eight-roomed house.
Mrs Okello is the mother of Homa Bay county executive for Tourism and Sports Dorothy Atieno Otieno, the wife to the Rongo MP.
The incident in Kamasaba Village, Komolo location in Rangwe, Homa Bay saw property of unknown value destroyed. Mrs Okello was however not in the house at the time.
She was reported to have been in Kisumu where she was still recuperating after a mild stroke.
A neighbour, Harrison Adina said he woke up at night only to see the house on fire and sounded the alarm. “By the time villagers arrived, the roof had already
caved in,” he said.
Mzee Adina later reported the matter to police who swung into action.
Homa Bay County Police Commander John Omusanga said his officers were following crucial leads. “The suspect in custody is assisting our officers with
useful information that will help us unravel the incident,” he said.
